Far Superior to Havelock GOOD BACK PLAY Showing a definfte superlority in the back line, Napier H.S.O.B. did as they pleased in heating Havelock North by 2.8 points to 12 in the gecond attraction at McLean Park, Napier, on Saturday. Al- . though the Villagers staged a belated rally at the close of the game, the issue was never in doubt, and the margin of 16 points was a . fair indjcation of the superiority •A the winners. Showing a team.combination that has not been apparent for several weeks, Old Boys immediately . went into action and three minutes from the eominencement of play Clothier secured from a scrum near the 25, lianded to Bradley, who beat his man and sent his backs away,. Tbie saSit> player was prominent in the second seoring movement, after the Oldi Boys pack had swept upfielcl, O'Rourke took a. pass near the line and groqnded in the corner, Hutchinson missing tbe kick for the second time. Marr was the next- to ' score, runping through several opponents to touch down in a handy position. Hutchijison missed the kick. Up to the interval, all the play was spent in Havelock territory, with the exception of a sortie by Davis which gained ground to the Old Boys' 25. Here they were penalised for a scrum infringement and C. Joll made uq mis--take with the kick. MorB outings for tbe Old Boys b^cks followed the interval. Tbe pack, with Bishop, Crawford-Smith and Butler prominent, was gaimng the ball from every scrum, with the result that the rearguard had every opportupity tq show. their paces.
