% • Must Not Criticise Nazi Policy (Received 29, 2.0 p.m.) BERLIN, May 28. Bitterly replying to Archbishop Mundelein, of Chicago, who critiicised Herr Hitler in a speech on May 20, Dr. P. J. Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda, at a mass meeting of the Nazi Party, issued a warning that most drastic steps would be taken against high dignitaries of the Catholic Church if Catholics, either in Germqny or abrqad, continued to criticise the "morality trials" now proceeding in Germany," "Archbishop Mundelein insulted Herr Hitler in a manner impossible to repeat," said Dr. Goebbels, "He called me a disho.nest Propaganda M'^ister who arrangej these triale solely for the purpose pf harming the persecuted Catholic Church. "The continual elandering of German juatice has forced us to disclosc to the world the reasons leading ta the arrests o.f priests and to disclosure of the monstrous mendaeity of those who ^sserted that Teligious motives were Tesponsible. Germany does not close her eyes to the dreadful moral decay which is manifest." Dr. Goebbels recited examples of offences allegedly committed by Catholic educators and added that the immorality trials were not regrettable isolated event's, but a sign of general moral depravity unparalleled in the fiultural history of mankind.
