DANCE FORMS OF MUSIC
Central H.B. Society's Evening (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Dance forms of music comprised the major portion of the programme of the third musical series of montlily coneerts organisedi by the Central Hawke's Bay branch of the British Music Society. The evening was held in the social hadl of tbe Women's liest, Waipukurau, last night, and .was a pronounced success. Mrs P. C. Anderson gave a very interesting talk on the subject, interspersed with vocal and instrumental items illustrative of the use various composers had made of dance forms in their musical works. The following jtems were contributed by members : — Vocal Group: Lascia Chio Pianga; Sarabande (Handel) ; Gipsy Dance (Dvorak), Mrs P. A. RiddlO; With the Courtly Grace, gavotte, ■ Mrs D. H. Clarke ; The Dream Minuet (Beethoven) ; The Floral Dance (Moss), Mr N. Tilley. Choral Group, under Mrs P. A. Riddle; Red Rose a Dead: Rose, waltz (iBrahms) ; Shepberd Dance, from Henry VIII. (Ed German) ; Blue Danube Waltz (Johann Strauss) ; The Keel Row (Traditional). Pianoforte Group ; 'Mazurka (Chopin) ; Waltz (Sibelius), Miss K. Riddle. Duet, Tarantella (Raff), Mrs P. C. Anderson and Miss H. Johnston-; Minuet (Handel), Bourne (Bach), Gailliard (Farejeon). . String Group : Gavotte (Gluck) violin solo, Mr J. 0. Windle; Deutscher Tanz (Sarakowsk'i) ; Senorita Tango (J. S.' Zamecnik) ; trio, Mr J. C. Windle (violin), Mr H. S. Cottrell ('cello), Mrs F. V. Ward (piano), Pianoforte accompaniments were played by Mrs F. V. Ward, Miss H. Johnston and Miss K. Riddle.
