VEILED REFERENCE HITLER uPublic-House Politipian Rnd Doss-HoRse BISHOP ON DICTATORS
(By
fiieccived ay, y.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. A scarcely veiled reference to, Herr Hitler was made by the Bishop of Birmingham when, speakipg in London, he said: "Recent Con- . tinental history shows how even a public-house politician and dosshouse dreamer can Ret a clientele which swells dangerously ih timea of public emotion and disorder. • ' When a dictator has as many followers as he can pay, he can create armies and muniitiqns actually on a Rase's Progress. This must end in bankruptcy, revolution or possibly a successful war. If there is a chance of war averting his^ downfall, a dictator plunges. ' * Referring to Italy, Bishop Barnea added: "Signor MuSsolini's attempts to fqrce up |he birth-rate are pathetic. Quality, not quantnty, is important. I was recently in Palermo, which is a huge slqm. People who think feel increasingly reluctant to breed children for cannon-fodder. ' '
