RECORD FILM TRANSPORT

Coronation News-Reel on Maunganui What is claimed to be a world record for ihe speedy transport of "ncwsreel" film was achieved to-day with the screeuing at the State Theatres in Hastings and Napier of a 1500£oot talking picture of the Coronation# Audiences viewed the iilm 15 days aiter the c.ent — two days be'tter than the pre-ri-iiib Englaud-New Zealand record. A spectacular feature of the record is that the iilm reached Sydnev fast enough to be reeeived 10 davs after the Coronation. This was made possible by tho.use of a specially-ehartered areopJane, plloted by Captain P. P. Taylor, which sped from England across Europe to overhaul and connect with the regular England-Australlan mail plane. Niae copies of the film were reeeived in Wellington to-day. Of these eight were distributed over tho country by air mail, The Hastings and Napier first sereenings took place this aftcraoon. — P.B.A.
