Dr. Hugo Eckener, designer of the German Zeppelins and head of the German Air Mixxistry's board of inquiry which is visiting America to investigate the causes of the explosxon disaster to the Hindeaburg, told the Sexjate Sub-Cpmmittee for Military Affairs that he believed an airship of ihe- Zeppeliu type would ixever. again be iu need in Germany as an instrument of warfare, due to the f act that it would be an easy target for fighting aerQplanes. He said that England had abandoned her military airship programme for the same reason, He denied that the use of hclium was impracticable to Hft Zeppelins, and requested that Germany be permitted td use it for commercial purposes.'
