Beau Gallante goes f ast and is fi good jumper. Red Manfred is weil thuught of in Taranaki, but racing experiehce may tell against him in this strong field. Ethio'p is held in high regard,» but he failed at Woodvilie. Pukeko is in great form, and his defeat in the Wairarapa Cup last Saturday may be overlooked. Onewhetu was second to Master Cyklon in his last start, but his form this season has been below expectations. Bona Bay has form on her side, while Gay Boy, on his running in the Hawke's Bay Cup, must be a serious consideration, Lapei ia said to be in great heart. Davistoek recently won a double in the Nelson district. Gold Mission has yet to win over this distance. Tahurangi and Even Money appeal moet of the lightweights. The favourites may be LAPEL, GAY BOY, and TAHURANGI1.55: HIMITANGI HACK. 6 furlongs. Aii-ing is also engaged in the open seven-furlong race. Royal Record won a double at Otaki, while Golden Chest is another recent winner. Bawning Light goes very fast, and although she has not raced for'some time., comes to hand quickly. Eara, Marjory Daw and Biamond Cutter have all won recently, but the balanee are without winning form. Three that may appeal most are DAJWNING LIGHT, GOLDEN CHEST. and MARJORY BAW. 2.40: HACK AND HUNTERS' STEEPLECHASE. 2 i mile*. Sporting Song has connlition and l'orm on his side. If there ie anything in the saying "the madder they are the better they jump," then Hunting Jay wili be oue of the favourite ones. Royal Banquet does not appeaj.
