Farmers Conccrned at Practice

DANNEVIRKE, This Day. Revelations made in the reeent xeporl of the commission set up to investigato aborton in New Zealand, had an echo at the inter-provincial conference of the Farmers ' Union at Dannevirke yesterday when the Marton branch moved that, as the present laws seem to allow those who practise abortion to escape punishment, the Government should be asked to alter the law in order to suppress this growixig evil which, if allowed to spread unchecked, threatens .the very existence of the rp.ce. The motion was moyed by Mr. G. L. Marshall who stated that if an old man like himself happened to be murdered, there would be p hue and cry throughout the country and thousands of pounds spent in running down the culprit, And this would happen despite the fact that his usefulness to the communjty was nearly ended, Now there was the position of the future generation being "murdered" before birth and the people responsible escaping without punishment. The motiop was carried unanimously without discussion. -
