LONDON BUS DISPUTE

'British Officia! Wireless.)

Further Investigation Recommended COURT'S REPORT

EUGBY, May 85'. Devdopments in the London bus dispute to-day ineluded the publication of ■ the report of the Court of Inquiry and the issue of a statement by the executive of the Transport Union following the resumed meeting of the delegate conference of omnibus men. The report confirms the findings in the interim xeport that the claims for a seven and a-half hours' day on grounds of health was not proved, but nevertheless that a prima facie case was made out for the further and immediate investigation by a qualifled body into the medical aspeets of the occupation. The Court also found that standing times and terminal facilities in some instanees left much to be desired, and recommended negotiations on the duty , schedules and their frequency of alteration and other matters. 'Finally, the report suggests the establishment by agreement between the London Passenger Transport Board and the men's union of some tribunal to which an appeal could be made, and where in future ordinary methods of negotiation had failed to produce a settlement. The union executive's statement shows that it has again confirmed its decision not to aqthorise any extension of the strike to the tramway or tube railway services. The statement declared that the council had decided they must xesume responsibility for the further conduct of the dispute and have instructed the necessary steps to be taken to implement that decision forthwith. The union statement * indicates that the executive will open negotiations at once with the London Transport Board on the basis of the Court iof Inquiry 's report, and in the event jof reaching an agreement fair and j satisfactory in its estimation, will adivise the strikers to resume work over the heads of the Central Busmen's Committee.
