Celebrates Her lOlsi Birthday To-morrow Mrs M. Knell, wife of tbe late Rev, W. Knell, an Apgliean clergyman who renderefi great service to Europeaps and Maoris in tbe early days of ifche Wellington province, will celebrate her lQlst. birtbday to-morrow. With her parents, she arrived at Nelson in the forties. For many years jfie astisted her husband in his ministrations, presiding at the organ in various churches. Since her husband' s death over 30 years ago she has been living in retirement with her daughter at Greytown, in the Wairarapa. Until quite recently, she retained her mental faculties to a remarkable degfree and even pov/ ehe can read without the aid of glasses. Her phy--sicaJ condition, considering her great age, is fairly robqsi, and she has been able to get about the house without assistance, fler chief ocoupation in recont jcfns has been crpohetting and kuittiug, and some oi' lier work has earued prizes r,t horticultural shows. Alr W, J, Knell, a retired manager of the Bank of New Zealand, is one of her sons;
