He had had a couple of faces over the battens recently, runuing second at EgmOnt, but his effort ih the Coronation Hurdles at Te Bapa on Monday so disappointed his connections that he will not go on to Ellerslie, Clari.on Call is engaged at the Wanganui meeting, whicb is to be held at the same time as the Auckland lixture, and he will probably be raced there. • • • Mr Fred Armstrong, of Christchurch, owner of Entreaty, has received ad-viee from England that Te tlira, fiill sister to Bhar Lap, had produced a cOlt to Colorado Kid. Te Uira, bred by, Mr Armstrong, was bought at the yearling saies by a Hastings sportsman, but was never tried as a galloper and was sold as a three-year-old for 2000 guineas to go to the stud in England. Colorado Kid is a young sire by Colorado from Pretty Polly's last produce. Baby Polly. Colorado Kid won 10 races and £9462, and at the end of his racing career was sold to Lord Woolavington, now owner of Te Uira. • • • Black Marlin's victory, says an Auckland onlooker, was a real triumph, as it W3>s only the secon^ timc that lio had been over country. His flrst such race was in the Coronation Steeples at the Bay of Islands meeting on .Coronation Day, when as a resnlt of good sfchooling he was sent out favourite, but he was easily beaten iuto third plaee by Eoxy and High Quality. That race, however, gave him the confideuce for his next outing at Te Bapa. His only mistake last Saturday appears to have been in cloutiug the last fence, but it did not prove serious and hc was easing up before reaching the winning post.
