MONARCHY WELL BASED
Recent Crisis Strengthened People's Affection "The British Monarchy is moTe firmly based than ever before," said Mr. J. M. Denton, proprietor of a leading steel and cutlery concern in Sheffield, England, who is on a holiday visit to New Zealand after an absence of over 30 years. "The recent crisis has, if anything, strengthened the people's attachment to this form of Government, and the quiet dignity with which the new King and Queen accepted their xesponsibilities has impressed upon the people the value and permanence of the Throne," he told a Herald-Tribune reporter. "Undoubtedly, the Monarchy to-day is strongcr than it has ever been, and, upart from the general good impression created, their Majesties have won the admiration of the people for the inann.er in which they undorlook the responsibilities of the State. ' ' Mr. Denton said he greatly admired the restraint that was shown by the English newspapers in the matter of disseminating their news. They were never guilty of divulging any information which was not in the best intercsts of the State or the Throne.
