. . ... .-I -A Work at Te Mata Park MEETING OF THE BOARD The 'quarterly meeting of the Tq Mata Park Trust Board was held in Hastings on Tuesday. Mr F. E. Smith presided over Messrs W. H. M. Dia. mond, S. Ashcroft, J. J. Nimon, A. I, Rainbow and Gh E. C. Eogers. In disaussing the annual report, Mr Ashcroft drew attention to tho board 's decreasing funds. He suggested that application be made to local bodies with a view to obtaining increased grants, and it was decided that the board's • local-body representativea should explain the need for funds for the cQmpletipn of the road and th© direetion tablet. A letter is also to be sent to the respectivq bodies, Mr T. Mason Chambers was nnani* mously re-eleeted chairman and Mr F, E. Smith was elected deputy-ehairman. Other officers and the. committee we|e re-eleeted. An offer from the Minister of In-. ternal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, of permis®ion to the board to conduct an art union was received with thanks, hqt no action is to he takenA donation of £5 5/- was received from the Automobile Association. The work of the last three months had been chiefly road-maintenanco work, said Mr Smith, in reporting for the works • committee. He considered the road would now stand winter conditions with very little attention. Numerous cars visited The Peak and many of them parked in the middla of the road instead of pulling to the side. Losses this year had been partieulariy lighfc, but it was proposed to replace 600 to 80Q trees which had died during the dry autumn.
