Waipawa Hospital Board Finances

' W. H.

RATHBONE,

Sir, — In a recent issue you insert4d a statement showing the sum of £20,440 18/2 reprOsenting the exceSs of income over expgnditure of the. Waipawa Hospital, Board ou its workings for, the past year. . This will no doubt be misleading to the public, as the board's institutions are not profitearning concerns. It is simply the balance brought down on income and expenditure account, which is a return. required for Health Department statistics, and it should have been stated that against this there was the sum of £18,455 1/8 brought down at April 1, 1936, representing accumulated book credits from previous years. ThuB, acual credit .balance on the years tvorkIng for income and expenditure account purposes was £1985 16/6. I trust that the position is now clear, and with thanks ^or .valuable space.— Vnuro ol.n
