The Heretaunga, Swimming and LifeSaving Club is this evening holdingi its annual dance in the Oddfellows' Hall, when his Worship the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, who is the club's patron, will make the presentation of trophies at 9:30 p.m. The committee has arrangements completed for the dance, and club members and friends can be assured of an excellent evening. In previous years Redward's orchestra has been one of the outstanding factors of the dance, and this combination has ' again been engagcd. .so patrons can look forward to an entertaining show. The district engineer of the Publio Works Department, Napier jinvites fcenders up to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 4, for the construction of a new gateway at Morere Hot Springs. Specificafcions may bt eeen at the Publie Works Offices at Napier, Wairoa and Gisborne. The combined concert by the Clive Women 's Institute and the Hastings Scouts that had to be postponed in March is to be held this Friday in the Clive Hall at 8.0 p.m. There will be a f ree bus leaving the Herald-Tribune corner at 7.30. The mothers of Scouts going' are asked to send a f ew cakes for refreshments for those performing. The Scout share of proceeds will go towards the H:Q. building fund. The attention of parents and guardians of pupils attending the Hastings High School is drawn to the fact that nominations of three candidates representing the parents of pupils will close with the returning officer, Mr. E. A. Murley, Queen street, Hastings, at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 2. Each nomination paper riiust bear the written consent of the candidate. The retiring members are 'Messrs. F. J. Hull, A. D. Ross, and F: C. Rush-Munro. The roll is open for inspection at the secretary's office up till June 2, 1937.
