TARADALE BRIDE CHOOSES MAGNOLIA SATIN
COWAN— WILLIAMSON A very pretty wedding took place last Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Wnliamson, Church road, Taradale, when their daughter, Melva, was married to John, son of Mrs and the late Mr James Cowan, of Knight street, Hastings, 'The Rev. Father Itiordan officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a beautiful long slim fitting gown of magnolia satin. with full pleated back and sleeves. Her veil was of deep magnolia lace worn with a small cap of gold leaves aud a lialo of tulle, She carried a shower bouquet of pink and cream carnations, roses. sweet peas and cyclaruen. The bridesmaid, Miss T. Williamson, sister of the bride, wore an anklelength frock of cie] blue leaf-figured suede crepe, relieved with silver trimniing. Her bouquet was composed of pink, blue and lavender asters, cyclamen, freezias and sweet peas. Two tiny tots, nieces of the bride, were flower girls, little Shona Smale wearing a sweet frock of shot apricot talfetas, and little. Joan Williamson in a dainty frock of lettuce grecn taffetas. They carried posies of wall fiowers, marigolds, chrj'santhemums and mignouette. The ' bridesmaid and the two flower girls all wore velvet bands on their heads to match their frocks, finished with a posy of fiowers on one side. Tlie duties of best man were carried out by Mr James Cowan. As the bride entered the drawingroom with her father the "Wedding Marcli" was played by Dr F. R. Smale, and during the service the hymn, "Voicc that Breathed o'er Eden," was sung. A reception was held after the ceremony, Mesdames Williamson and Cowan receiving the guests, inclnding fifty and sixty relatives of the bride and bridegroom. The tables were artistically decorated with Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern. The usua'l toast.s were honoured, the Rev. J, Cummings acting as toast-master. Mrs J. Williamson, mother of tho bride, wore an afternoon frock of black georgette with diamante broocb and buckle. , Mrs Cowan, bridegroom's mother, was wearing a grey tailored suit with suede waistcoat to match. Her hat was grey velour trimmed with violet fiowers and a grey squirrel fur coinpleted the costume. Later Mr and Mrs Cowan left for Arkdeen, Wairoa, where they are to reside. The bride ^ravelled in a tailored suit of English tweed worn with a rust-coloured hat to tone, pig-skin gloves and brown shoes.
