STANLEY'S SACRIFICE
When lin Blantyre, I took the.opportunity of going to see the Livingstone memoriaL These are stained glaas windows, and in two of them there are extracts, one from a letter written by Livingstone, and one froin . his diary. One was written earlier dn his life, and it was this: "I will place no value on anything I possess, or expect to possess, except in relation to the Kingdom of God." There is no harm in possessing, or in expeeting to possess, so long as you value it for what dt can do for the Kingdom of God. The other extract was- written two days af ter he had parted with Stanley. Livingstone was lost for many years while in Africa, and a great New York paper sent Stanley to find him. You know the story how at last this American found the Britisli missionary. Livingstone was siplc and ill, and Stanley wanted him to leave Africa, but Livingstone refused. "No," he said, "I must finish my work. " * And he did finish it. Shortly after Stanley left him he wrote these words iin his diary: "My Jesus, my Lord, my Life, my All, , I again dedkate my wh'ole life to Thee. ' Re was thinking only of his work, and of the dark-skinned people of Africa. "It shall not be so among you," said Jesus. "But whosoever will be great among you let ltim be your miaister, and whosoever will be chief among- you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of man came not to be ministercd unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many." Jesus comes and He asks us for tho surrender' of our whole lives to Him, Jhon He cau use us.— Rev. Gilbert Laws.' ,
