Manhandling Children
WANDERER. ' '
Sir,-4-After reading "B.R.'s" .letter in your Thursday's issue, I have come to the conclusion that the case of the crmll father who struck his daughter across the face and bruised her must be an dsolated oue. We meet all types of fathers, some good, others (I fear) prone to excess indulgenee of the Tbottle. But never have I personally come across an instance where brutality has been used by a father in correeting the behaviour of his children. New Zealanders are noted for their chivalry, and I doubt if "B.R." will find another case like his (or hers) -over a long period of years. I thilnk most fathers recognise the fact that cliastisement, to be of good effect, must •be tactfullv administered,— Yours, etc.,
