KAIWAKA MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Kaiwaka Women 's Institute was held in the Kaiwaka Hall. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Lee took the chair. Mrs. Wilkie gave her report on the half-yearly meeting of the Northern Hawke's Bay Federation, to which she was a delegate. Mrs. Hanna and Mrs. Collins, members of the Tangoio Branch, gave a demonstration of floral work, the arranging of posy-bowls, and the wiring of bouquets. This was a demonstration in which all were interested, and the visitors were aceorded a hearty vote of thanks. An amusing competition, recognising by touch and smell samples from the panfry, was won by Mrs. Hanna. The competitions for the day were the three best chrysanthemums blooms and a hot-water bag cover. The results were: — Chrysanthemums, Mrs. Hammond 1, Mrs. Grindell 2; hot-water bag cover, Mrs. Macaulay 1, Mrs. Sigreitsen 2. The hostesses for the afternoon, Mrs. Wilkie and Mrs Arnold, served an enjoyable afternoon-tea.
