Nga Tawa and Wanganui Old Pupils Comb'ine Tlie speclaeular dccorations in the ha II, togetli^r with tlie lovelv £wwns worn by the women, gave an unforgettable bi'illiaiice to the annual combined bait of the Hawke's Bay branches of the Xga Tawa Old Girls' Association and the Wanganui Collcgiato School Old Boys' Association, which was held in the Hastings Assembly llall last evening. No effort had been spared to make the evening a success, and many hundreds of dancers voteci the ball oue of the scason's best. The decorative scheme had been verv cleveriy carried out to combine the eolours of the two assoeiations, ihe brown and gold of Nga Tawa, and the blue. yellow and black of ^Vanganui. All along the front of the stage, the balcony and tlie oreliestral dais wero massed gold and brown ehrysanthemums and autumn i'oliagc, while on the stage were large bowls of chrvsantheniunis in yellow and brown with golden Jeaves, blaok berries and bluo del])hiniunis. Overhead Avas liung a loncj banner with the names of tlie two schools 111 appropriate colouring and their badges. Easy chairs and settecs were ar ranged on the stage for thp onlookdi's. The decorations of the stage and ball were the work of Mrs W. Harrison, Mrs H. C^leman, and the Alisses Helen Ocleman, Alix. Rochfort, Jean Brodie and Alison Anderson. in the supper-room a most attraetive scheme had been arranged by iilis Noel Beaimsh, Hrs A. 1. Rainbow a.od tlie Misses Lyndal Caudy and l'.nid Twigg. Thrce long tables were set for supper, one carried out in Nga Tawa (■■oiours with crystal bowls oi brown anU ^old llowers and foliage, one for Wanganui, with yellow chry sa i:.nen'uras, blue hydrangcas and olack priVet berries, and the third a Corci.rtion table with bonfire salvia, whde narcissi and blue delphiniums. Out oi these boivls were standing gold crowns and Coronation emblems, while on eacli of the other tables were tho letters to formi the name of the school. JMenus paiuted with appropriate colours and topped with ilags set out a number of delicacies which everyone enjoyed for supper. The committee which was respons ible for the excellent arrangemtnts were Mr and Mrs F. von Kettle, Aiesdames H. M. Wilson, H. V. Hoa-.ey, A I Rainboiv, H. Coleman, \V. Harrison and Noel Beamish, Misses Ljnauj Candy, Gladys Hardy, Fnid 'I w.gg, Nanc^ Logan, Diana "Wilson, Dorothy Clarke, Margaret Grant, Tloim CoJeman and the excellent honorary seeretaries, Miss Mary Wilson and Messrs Bruce K.elly and Douglas Lindsay. .Dainty little dance programmes with the school badges and colours on the front set out the dances, each being named after a school house, and the dance music was played by Les. Henry's orchestra, The host for the evening was Mr F. von Kettle, president of the Hawke's Bay branch of the Wanganui Old Boys' : Association, and in the nnavoidable absence of Mrs Keltie, the hostess was 1 Miss Lyndal Candy, president of this brgnch of the Nga Tawa Old Girls.
