Council Taking No Action at Present MAYOR'S EXPLANATI0N Consideration has been given by the Hastings Borough Council to the recommendations made by the borough traffic iuspector, Mr D. Manu, in his annual report, in which he proposed that there should be restrictions placed on the parking of cars in Heretaunga street during .busy shopping hours to relieve traffic congestion, but the eouncil has decided to take no actipn ?n the meantime. "There seems to be an idea prevalent in the country district that it is intended to stop vehicular traffic parking in the main streets, but I would point out that these were only observkiions made by the inspector to be takei. inlo consideration when the council was doaling with traffic control generally," said the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, at the meeting of the council last evening. "The council has decided not to give effect to these recommendations or observations, and the present regulations in force will be continued.
