Man Found on Line with Leg Sevtred

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. With his right leg severed at the angle, gna the other leg badly wutilated, and severe cuts about his faee and anas. Herbert de Castro Taylor, aged 60, a nharf labourer, of Woolston, was fi und unconscious lying '••• tho iailway track outside the Woolston station at 6.35 p.m. He was taken to riGv.pital by the ambulance, but was found to be dead on arrival. Taylor; waa at first noticed by the Jriver of the 6.23 p.m. train from Lyttelton, wno saw the body lying between the platform and the rails as tfia train diew into the station. :Te immediately told the stationmaster and together they investigated. Dr. E. H. H. Taylor was called and an ambulance was summoned. The man was still alive when the ambulance left for the hospital. The police have estahhshed that the victim was not struck by tlie 6.23 train, and it is sup-posc-d that Taylor was either struck b.v ansajher train at 5.47 o'clock or feil between the carriages as the traiu was moving out of the station.
