Scoring generally was moderate, several sides failing to reach 100 in an innings, and consequently all but oue of the matches were won outright. Bowlers were more to the fore than 'batsmen and a number of them eollectied six or more Wickets in an innings, IButler (Nottinghamshire) led the way [with eight for 15 against Surreyj Boyes l(Hampshire) captured seven Kent •wickets, and Hammond (Gloucesterishire) took six for 26 against Sdmerjset.
