Miscellaneous Cases In Hastings Court The following cases were* dealt with by Mr J. Miller, S.M., in the Hastings Magistrate's Court this morriing: — On the information of the Main HigBways Board traffic inspector, Mr J. H. R. Semple, Robert Holt and Sons and John Swinburn wfere each charged with overloading and were .fined £1, with 10/- costs, the proper liconce baving since been taken out. PhiJJip Charlton was charged with allowing a motor vehicle to stand outside a recognised stopping-jilace. The borough inspector, Mr JD. Manu, said that the vehicle was.taking up about half the roadway and was definitely an obstruction. A fine of 10/- with costi? 10/-, was liuposed. Walter Watson was fined £3 with costs 10/-, l'or operating a lieavytratfie velucle without a licenee. lu.spector D. Manu said that as far as kuew uo licence had been taken out •since spoken to. For operating a motor truck with inett'icient brakes, James Morrison was fined £L, costs 10/-. Admitting that he c mployed a boy 14 years of age to drive a motor vehicle without a driver's licence, Clarence George Watson (Mr W. S. Averill) was fined £1 with 10/- costs. Counsel explained that the boy was quite a competent driver. Actually he was ernployed on milk delivery and only drove the vehicle on this occasion because of an emergency call. Allowing a horse to wander in Market street cost Lo";t Maultsaid 5/and costs 10/-. It was pointed out by Mr E. T. Gifford, his counsel, that it was not a. wilfu] case of letting stock wander.
