STORTFORD CATTLE Butcher* Requiring Supplies MODERATE YARDING The market for to-day' s moderate yarding at Stortford Lodge showed an improvement on the reduced levels ruling at the double market « fortnight ago, but a full rscovery cn the ratea of three weeks ago :was not made. The offering of 240 head included a few pens of ox beef, -with cows predominanting in the female pens. Prime quality throughout was confined to a small percentage of pens. The outetanding heavy ox beef entry yraa on account of Messrs T. and D. Butler, Tikokino. It was solidly finished 'Aberdeen Angus bullocks, a fine quality •ntry, which. topped the market at £12 17/6. On account of Mr T. Butler, Tikokino, a splendid entry of medium.weight dehorned Hereford bullocks brought £11 10/-. The best-quality entries ranged from 27/6 to 30/- per 1001b. Several pens of heifers were offered, but moet of these were small-grown and. in light order. Further fmishing of these lote would have added to their appeaxance.in the sale-ring. Medium to teavy entries on account of Mr F. C. Bell, "Whakapiro Station, and Mr A. A. Ssmall, prime finished, made to £8 10/-, averaging approximately 24/- per 1001b. The best well-finished cows made to £7 12/6, 'with medium sorts selling to £6 10/-. Small-framed, light-finished entries, • ehowing age, realised prices on a par with the freezing schedule. A considerable portion of these were boners and xanged to £5. Competition was more afttive to-day than was the case a fortnight ago when most of the offering Was difficult to trade. The tone of' the sale was mflch brighter due to.the butchers requiring aupplies: — Realisations were as under: — ' OX BEEF PRICES. An entry of fine clean-bred, quito weli-franied Aberdeen Angus bullocks, ahowing age, of good weighta but plain knished, realised to £10 10/-. Fattened at Mangateretere, an entry of dehorned Hereford and SKorthor'ns, medium franxed - and ' well - finished, brought to £11. ' A further entry of Shorthorn and Hereford cross, medium-framed, earryinjr a good finish," made to £10 10/-. On account of Messrs T. and D. Butler, Tikokino, four clean-bred heavy Aberdeen . Angus bullocks, solidly finished, showing. prime quality, inaking a splendid winter beef entry, realised to £12 17/0. Bell, Whakapiro Station, an entry of wellr'bxed medium to heavy Aberdeen Angus heifors, .prime finished, a good quality iine oi young beef, sold to £8 6/-. » On account of the same vendor, a further similarly bred pen, of equally good quality, nut rather lighter, made fc> £8. V / , . A pen of small-grown dehorned Hereford heifers, medium finished "and tight, was passed at £5 o/-. On account of' Mr A. A. Small, an attractive pen oi four Aberdeen \AngusHereford cross heiters, medium to heavy, showing prime quality, splendidly finished, jnuking well-selected young beef, made to £8 10/-. Off the same property, a. further entry of simiiariy bred splendidly finished heilers made £8 10/-. An extra prime young roan Shorthorn heifer, showing, exceptional qual ity and finish, brought £8 4/-. Four small to medium-growu dehorned Hereford heifers, light finished, sold to £5 14/-. On account of Te Aute Station, an entry of mixed-hred, young, sinallframed heifers, quite well finished, sold to £6. An entry of four clean-bred, smallframed, dehorned Herford cows, in light to medium finish, was passed . at £5. COW-BEEF RATES On account oi Mr F. C. Bell, Whakapiro Station, an entry of mediumweight Aberdeen Angus cows, deep bodied and carrying a good finish, realised to £7 2/-. Off the same property, a further en try of mixed-hred 18-mths heilers, a good buteher's line, sold to £6* A pen of clean-bred medium to heavy Aberdeen Angus cows, prime finished, in good order, realised to £7 12/6. On account oi Mr A. A.
