ASHBURTON, Last Night. While replying to a presentation at an A. and P. Association meeting on behalf of mid-Canterbury farmers, in appreeiation of nine years' services as Government stock inspector, Mr. John WaBhington Smith eollapsed and died. Mr. Smith was a married man with an adult family. He retired on superannuation a few weeks ago. Previously he had been stationed in the Otago district,
