AMOUNT INVOLVED

Effect of Revaluations • As the greater part of the Napier harbour district has ibeen revalued since Ihe days when a harbour rate was last imposed, it is at present impossible to say how much the rate to collect £12,000 will be. The amount to be collected is apportioned so that Napier borough pays a rate dbuble that of the rest of the district. For the year ending March 31, 1930, when £16,000 was levied by the Harbour Board in rates, the Hawke's Bay County rate was 311/2000ths of a penny in the £ and the Hastings borough rate Was 23/100 ths of a penny. As the unimproved values of a great deal of the district have been reduced since 1930 the proportionate levy~ for every £1 of value will probably be greater.
