Hastings Chamber's Best Wishes vCOLLECTION AT MEETING "We are all very Interested at the present time in the question of increae^ ing the population, and this seems the best individual effort to date," said Mr W. A. Whitlock with a sirile at "the mestisg of the Hastings Cha ber _ of Commerce last evening when making reference to the birth of triplets to Mr and Mrs J* C, Anderson, of Kahuranaki. "Here wi~ have three n#w potentlal buyers of i/vtr goods," he added, "so what about a 'bob in' so that we can buy them a little present?" The suggestipn was greeted with tha greatest enthusiasm, members remark-' ing on the publicity that had been afforded Hastings by the advent of the triplets and also on the appropriate' naming of the babeg in view of their birth on Coronation Day. It has been decided, as reported by the HeraldTribune yesterday, that the youngsters (shouid be called Mary, Eljzabeth and Rose. It was noted, however, by the Prese representatives at the meeting that there were 13 members present, and the Pressmen haistened to defeat the fears of the superstitious by adding their "mites" to the collection, which was handed over to the secretary by the president, Mr H. W. C. Baird, expressing on behalf of all prOseni "th© very best wishes for the future happiness, good health and prosperity of the triplets."
