HASTINGS CHAMBER

Public Works in H.B. There was a good attendance at the montlily meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce last evening, the president, Mr II. W. C. Baird, presiding over a representati ve gathering of members of coimuercial and business interests. In reply to inquiries as to what stops had been taken in the matter of tlie flve yoai'-plan proposed by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon, R, Semple, towards including Hawke's Bay works m ihe plan, the Hawke's Bay County Council advised that it had not as yet received any official intimation of the proposals, but upon doing so it would inform the Chamber. It was deeidea to liold the annual meeiiugof the Chamber on June 21 next, and Messrs C. Duff, W, A- Whitlock and A. C. A. Hyde were appointed as a nominations committee.
