TANTALITE DEPOSITS
Foreigners Interested In Darwin Mines (Eeeeived 17, 10.30 a.m.) DARWIN, May 17. Overseas interest in tantalite deposits in the Northerii Territory as is emphasised by a report of a Japanese merchant, M. N. Uneda, who liopes to secure supplies of this rare metal for Japan's armaments. Already a representative of a German industrial combine has left Darwin for the interior in search of fresli tantalite deposits, while the Mines Department has received inquiries from countries throughout the world, including France, Sweden and Am,erica. Altliougb it is understood that British firms are buying supplies of tantalite from Western Australia, nearly all the Northern Territofy tantalite is being exported to foreign countfiesi Tantalite contains the metallic elerneut tantahito , a silvery-white metal, It is used iti the inanufaetufe of the filanients of eleeti'ic lunipB. ,
