Turbulent seas. Lashed by a high wind that did considerable damage to trees ashore, the sea at the Napier foreshore yesterday provided a fine sight. A dense mist obscured the water some distance from the shore, and what could be seen of the water was a tossing expanse of white water, with large .waves breaking far out from the sboro and Bmothering the beach in a sheet of foam. Although the waves had abated this morning, evidence of their fury could be seen in the amount of driftwood and seaweed that littered the beach.

Dominion Press Praiseo. Praiee for the high standard oi the Press of New Zealand was accorded by Mr W. R. Increasing numbers of Australian parakeets in the Waitakere Ranges, although contributing to the general beauty of the bush, ar emaking constant- vigilance by neigbbouring orchardists necessary. These rosella parrakeets have been in the district for many years and are steadily increasing. They may be distinguisked from the New Zealand species, which is much rarer on the mainland, by their larger size — they are about the size ef a tui — and by their plumage, which is red1, compared with the red head and green body of the New Zealand bird.
