BLENHEIM, Last Nigkt. A joyride that resulted in Blenheim being plunged into darkness for half-nn-hour on a Saturday evening had a eequel in the Magistrate 's Court when John Langdon Aniseed, of the railway construetion eamp, and George Eonald Dobson, of Mahakipawa, pleaded guilty to converting a motor-ear valued at £85, and wilfully damaging a power pole valued at £19. Dobson was further charged with a breach of his prohibition order and driving Without a liconse. A charge of intoxication while in charge of a car was withdrawn. The police stated that the car, belonging to Edgar Rowe, was removed • from town and crashed into a power pole. The car was now worth only £5. In defence, it was stated that both ;defendants had suffered injury, Dobson 's being probably permanent to .the eye. Remarking that the case apparently afose from a dtunken prank, the Magistrate, in view of the injuries defendants had suffered, decided to admit them to probation on the special condition that they pay for the power pole.
