AMERICA'S CUP

All eyes will centre for the next two months on the activities of the English yacht Endeavour II, which is to race for the America's Cup at Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.A., on July 31 next. Endeavour I and Endeavour II, accompanied by the motor yacht Philante, set out on the trip across the Atlantic on May 1. The idea of the early start is to allow intensive tuning up of the English yachts. Endeavour I will act as a trial yacht to T. O .M. Sopwith's latest challenger, Endeavour II. It will take at least six weeks in American waters to get the challenger in proper racing trim, and to work up team-work among the crew.
