The actor, who plays an important featnred rolo in aupport of .Charles ^toyer and Jean Arthnr in " History ,is Made at Night," Walter Wanger'a second production for release ihrough TJnited Artists, is tlie aon of Colonel Colin Clive-Creig, a British army hero, and all his male xelatives for generations had won glory under the IJnion Jack. He was born at St. Malo, France, of English parents, on JanuaTy 20, 1900. Educated at Stonyhurst College and at the Boyal Military College, Sandhurst, young Clive had almost achieved his first army goal, a commission, when he was badly hurst in a fall from a horse. Always interested in amateur theatricals, he hegan to think of a stage career as soon as he had reeovered. Entering the Boyal Academy of Dramatie Arts, he inade a brilliant reeord and stepped into leading roles in "Eose Marie," "Show Boat," " Way of an Eagle" and other London suceesses. It remained for "Journey's End" to catapult him to international fame. Since that time he has devoted part of his time to films and Teturned fo the footlights for oceasional roles. He is six feet tall, weights 160 pounds, has gray eyes and black hair. , When he isn't busy in tEe studios or on the stage, Clive usually can be found on the tennis courts or the" golf links.
