During the evening some fourteefi Bouts Were pTOvided, eighf wxestting and six Boxing, the outstanding wrestling exhiBition Being Between Herb Brinson and Jack Stewart. This bout was fuli of bright, olean wrestliirg, both men displaying a very wide range cff holds and counters, plus a little Villainy, which helpa to -make moderii wrestling so much Brighter. Mr. Hefb Brinson refereed the earlier bouts, whila M. Alf. SCudder was third man in the. ring for the star attraction. With the boxers the main event was for a. trophy presented by Mr. Hodgson, the winner to be decided by public vote. In the first bout Ti. Jfiry Thompson is in hard traifiing again, and looking very fit, Dnfortufiately, there are no other- heavyweights in the district. at the moment. However, it should not be long before he is matched with an outside wrestler, when, I feel sure he will prove himself as goOd as ever. Noel Webby is with us again, and just starting to get into shape after a short retirement. On his showing agaifist Jack Stewart' last Week, George Allingham is a vastly improved wrestler, and should be well np for title honours by the end- of the season. Another improving wrestler who impressed last week is John McCormick, . and it should not be long before he can hold his own with any welterweight in the Island. Two begpnera who took part in the | gymfiasiuxn tournament, and did very well, are Bill MitcheR and Jipmy Tatterson. These two boys are taking a keen interest in the sport and learning very qnickly. Jack Coe is also coming along wolii, afid it- should not be long before. he i makes the grade.
