AUCKLAND, Last Njgbt. Reference to a report tbat Mr. P. J. O'Regan, of Wellington, was to be' appointed a Judge of tbe Supremu Court and was likely to become prcsident of tbe Arbitration Court was made by Mr, J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Uncl er-Secretary to tbe Minister of Finance, in an address to bis fconstituants at Grey Lynn. Mr. O'Regan, said Mr. Lee, had for many years appeared on behalf of the workers in compensation cases before tbe Court and be had long been a sterling advocate of improvements in the working of tbe Compensation Act. He bad acquired an almost special knowledge of industrial compensation and, through acquainting himself closely witb tbe circumstances of bis elients, be bad a tborough understanding Of mogt of tbe industries in wbicb they were engagcd. A Judge of tlie Arbitration Court should Icuqw somothiug of industrial compensation iu order to deal with cases, It would probably be difficult to find another solicitor witb such qualifications ns those" wbicb Mr, O'Regan po§§e^ed.
