WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the , first Rugby representative match of the season Canterbury to-day beat Wellington 19 — 17. Playing under ideal conditions Wellington was outclassed in the flrst ihalf, Canterbury keeping the upper.hand with fasfc movements in which backs and forwards combined, handling cleanly and backing up tirelessly. In the second spell tlhe Wellington forwards took charge, gaining possession from scrums, but the game was won by * the combined play of the visiting forwards an'd their greater opportunism.
