Sir Standish O'Grady Roche, A.D.C. to the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, haa returned from a holiday visit to Australia. Colonel 0. E. Palmer, formerly In-spector-General of Hospitals and Prisons in Assam, who is to retire shortly from the Indian Army Medical Service, has arrived at Auckland from Sydney on a short visit to New Zealand. He was accomp&nied by Mrs Palmer. Mr H. A. Dobson, Gisborne, who has been visitiug Christchurch for the unveiling of the memorial to his brother, the late Sir Arthur W. Dobson, - at Artttur's Pass, is at present visiting Napier. Mr E. Orr, who has for the last eight years been on the staff of the Eoyal Insurance Co., Ltd., Napier, has received notice of his transfer to the "Wellington office of the company. Mr Orr will leave Napier in about three weeks' time. Mr K. P. Morton, who has been in the Stamp Duties Departineut, Auckland, for the past 10 years, has beeu transferred to the Napier office to replace Miss T. Y. Hardy-Gibson, who leaves on transfer to Wellington. Mr Morton will take over his new duties next week. Mr. H. Langtry, whose connection with military bands in the • Imperial Army has extended over 45 years, has been appointed musical director of the New Zealand Air Force Band as from April 15 last. Mr. Langtry holds the full certificate of the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall.— Press Assn. Mr. LeOnard J. Cronin has been ap pointed as managing editor of the New Zealand Financial Times, Wellington, and will «ake up his duties early in July. Mr. Cronin, who has been tjie editor of the New Zealand Tablet for the past five yeare, has had more than 20 yfiars of experience in journalism in the Dominion and has occupied many important posts on city newspapers, cMefly in the North Island.
