Russian Stowaway Creates a Problem

" Au6kLANDrLast Night. ! The two stowawaya aboard .tho steamer Brandon are causing considerable concern. They gfcowed away at Antwerp eighty days ago. Both are without passports and, therefore, could not land in New Zealand under any circumstances. One of them, the Russian Jew, Michael Levinsky, who started a hunger strijce aome time ago, decided to eat once more to-iiight. He 'limited his meal, however, to two slices of bread and butter and a cup of tea. His fellow-countryman, Jan Roman- - ofk, who is leading a normal existenCe,® although also under lock and key since the ship arrived at Auckland, ..was released to-day to take some exercise on . deek. The hunger striker was visited to-day by the port health officer. Although the Collector . of Customs, Mr J. Mclntosh, has agreed to grant a temporary permit to Levin'sky to allow frfm to be taken ashore to hospital for forcible feeding, the agents for the Brandon have made no application for one. It is stated that they do not wish to take him ashore in view of possible complications,
