Sir, — I must writet you a word ot congratulation on. yoilr Coronation- Jubilee number. Without having read it all yet one can see that it is not only very interesting but also a very important record. The layman can only faintly guess at the tremendous amount of work its preparation has involved for you and your staff. I hope you have some extra copies, because a good . many people like myself will be wanting them to send away. Congratulations and all good wishes. — Yours, etc..
Hastings, May 10, 1937, (To the Editor.) Sir, — Hearty congratulations to you and your staff, as well as those who assisted by supplying the information for your very informative speeial dssue of Friday. The contrast between 1886 and 1937 is, of course, most striking, but in my rnind it is still more so, for Hastings was practically non-existent dn 1875 ' when I footed it down through the 70tnile bush. May your shadow never grow less. — Yours. etc..
Wairoa, May §.
