Poor Return for 1936 Season

PALMERSTON N, This Day. That the Hawke Cup is not made of gold was proved with disappointing certainty at a xneeting of the Manawatu Cricket Assoeiation's executive last evening, when a financial statement of the five challenge games during the past season was presented. Summarised, it was as follows:. —

The New Zealand Cricket Council must have been particularly heartened by an appropriation of sevenpence on the match with Southland: In the match, Wellington ▼. Miuor Associations, played at Palmerston North in Februaiy, g&te receipts were £26 Ss, and expenses £28 14s 2d, Manawatu carrying a loss of £2 6s 2d. These disappointing results were in part accounted for by bhd weather, which interrupted several of the matches and Teduced attendances even when play was poSBible.
