DECORATED MEMORIAL

Striking Lighting Effect At Taradale

Oue of the most striking illuminations for the Coronation celebrations in Hawke's Bay will be that of the Fallon Soldiers' Memorial at Taradale. Gn Saturday officials of the Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board, assisted by members of the Taradale and District Beturned Soldiers' Association, installed the lighting arrangements, which provided for the fitting of a very la*ge itumber of electric lights, The lights have been so arrafiged as to giva a most emposing effect. The memorial, which stands oYer 50 feet above the ground, lends itself admirably to any scheme of illumination. Surmounting the staff at the -top of the memorial, a high-poweTed bulb has been fitted. Several rows of lights are suspended from the top of the dome, while in addition there are a number of circular rows of lights. On Saturday evening the illuminations were tested, and they gave a mqsi imposing display. Numerous motoriatw passing through Taradale atopped anfl admired the ffluminatipns, which were plainly seen from a conaiderable distance, Yiewed from the neighbouring hills, the effect was most striking. It is understood that the memorial will be illuminated each night thia week, and in the absence of the moon, the display will be "well worth seelng.
