' OTANE, Last Night. . A very pleasant time was spent at the residence of Mis G. Collins on Friday afternoon when members of the Otane Basketball Club and several friends paid a surprise visit for the purpose of farewelling hjiss Leonie Collins, who, leaves to enter the Masterton Hospital as a trainee for the nursing profession. The time passed quickly aud enjoyably with games, competitions and mu sical items. Several delightful song uumbers wero sweetly sung by Miss Alma Collins, A peanut competilion was won by Miss Agnes Griffen and a popr.lar musical cno by Miss T. Roboi- ' tom. ' After a dainty afternoon tea had been served, Miss S. Wedd, the ' club captain, expressed the regret, all felt at the impending departuxe pf Misa Col-
lins, who besides being a good and keen player, had also acted as secretary for some considerable time. They were go« ing to miss her very mueh and her place would not be easy to fill. Miss Wedd asked Miss Collinia to accept a rug from her club mates and friends and extended their best wishes for her happiness and snccess in her chosen career. Mnsical honours were aceorded, and Miss Collins returned thanks for the kind wishes expressed and for the handsome and nseful gift. Before dispersing all joined in .singing "Auld Lang Syne," and the oppor. trinity was taken by those present personaliy to farewell the guOst of honour.
