ST. ANDREW'S WOMEN'S GUILD "AT HOME"
The members of St. Andrew's, Women 's Guild held their annual "at home" for the children on the cradle rolls of their Sunday schools, and their motkers on Thursday afternoon dn St. Andrew's Hall. The stage had been prettily decorated by Mrs Kirkpatrick with bowls of red oak leaves, golden and red chrysanthemums and marigolds, and vases of the same flowers were on the afternoon tea tables. The guests were met by the guild president, Mrs W. H. Ebbett, and Sister Gladys, and . soon • the hall re-echoed "with the voices of many happy. little people wearing gay paper hats. The programme opened with the sihging of the Doxblogy, after which Mrs Ebbett welcomed the guests and expressed the •' wish that everyone would enjoy a time- of- happy, hfclpful fellowship.; • Instead of the usual roll call of over 100 names, the mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers were asked to ' respond, Mrs Warren and Mrs Short having the latter honour. Miss H. Ford delighted the audience with her singing d£ "The Necklaqe of Love". and "Down Here," Mrs F. C. Lock aeting as her accompanist. Mrs L. F. Peach chose " A^Sti'ing of Pearls" and "Land of Hope and Glory," Miss H. Ford being the accompaniste. Everyone joined in singing the special Mother's Day hymn "O God of Love, Our Mother's Blcss.*' At afternoon- tea time, the little folk sat around a long, low table, decorated with Coronation colours, and enjoyed their cakes and cocoa. The piles of rosy apples were the gift of Mr D. J. Boyle. The Rev. D. J. A. Shaw expressed his pleasure at seeing so many present and addressed a few words of encouragement to the mothers, stressing the high ideals of Christian motherhood. Two of the Sunday School ' s'cholars, Miss June Curline and Master Ross Curline, then gave as their elocutionary items ' ' The Cripple Boy ' ' and ' ' The Rocking Horse" and both were encored. Votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted in making the aftqrnoon such a success, especially Mrs G. Ilorn and her social eommittee. Mr Shaw then pronounced tho Benediction.
