BRIDAL GOWN OF RICH SILVER THREADED SATIN
BERNAU— HICKES A lovely gown of rich satin jh lily of . the valley shade threaded with silvor iu a leaf design was worn by Audrey Gladys, daughter of Mrs G. F. Gardiner, Seapoint road, Napier, and. the late Mr.Jl. J. Hicks, at her marriage to John Forster, son of Dr and JVlrs H. F. Bernau, Thompson road, Napier, which was solemnised at St. John's Church, Napier, this afternoon. .The Rt. Rev. H W. Williams, Bishop of Waiapu, officiated at the ceremony, and he Was assisted by the Ltev. Dean Brocklehurst. Mr Percy Tonibs presided at the organ and playecl 'the wedding music. The church was /decorated in red, white and blue for Coronation week, but friends of the bride had arranged lovely white chrysanthemums on the altar and masSed whdte ehrysanthe1 tnums and palms at the entrance. Mrs ( Lt, .1.. Sutton, who arranged tho decorations, also made little. gilded horseshoes finislxed with a posy of white chrysanthemums and ferns to mark the guests' pews. The • bride looked very charming as ,she entered the church withi Mr G. F. Gardiner and her two maids and two little ilower girls. Her gown was fashioned very simply, the front of the skirt forming a point up the bodice while- at the back an inset godet from the. waist flared .to a very long train. The long tight sleeves were caught at the wrist with tiny buttons and were fihished with ,a cluster. of greeny-t-inted orange blossom matching the cluster at her rie'ck. Her shoes were of satin broc'aded with silver and her veil, which was a very long one of plain tulle, was arranged with a very becoming little crown of orange blossom. She earried a bouquet of whit© chrysanthemums and azaleas with maidenhair ferns. Triple chiffon in a lovely shade of deep honey-gold mounted taffeta in the same shade was worn by the two bridesmaids, Miss Barbara Bradley and Miss Nancy Logan, whose gowns were fashioned alike on Empire lines. The trained skirt.was edged with a flounce and a second flounce was arranged from the front up to the waist at the back. The. corsage was sleeveless and a circular flounce outlincd the neckline and continued over the shoulders to form a V at the back. Each maid wore shoes the same shade as her gown and a coronet of golden roses and chrysanthemums axid earried a bouquet in autumn tints with chrysanthemums, abutilons and fern. * T.wo very attractive little flower girls j jill Gardiner and Gillian KettLe, wore Kato Greenaway frocks of the same material as the older maids. Three narrow frills edged the ankle- " length- skirts and also the neckline and the pointed bodice was caught with two small bows. Each little maid earried dn autumn tinted Yictorian posy, Mr- Rupert Inglis earried out the duties of best man; and Mr J. F. Pym, •Wellington, was the groomsman. The- wedding reception was held at the Masonic Hotel, where the lounge was beautif ully decorated with bronze and golden flowers and foliage, The guests were received by the parents of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs ' Gardiner Wor© a model gown of cafe-au-lait la.ee with a background of brown net. The trained skirt was finished with: a flared flounce and the corsage, which had lang fitting sleeves, had a cape effect at the back and a cluster of lace flowers at the neck in front. Her brown picture hat was trimmed with cafe-au-lait flowers and she earried a bouquet of goldeu shaded flowers and ferns. Mrs Bernau wote a smart frQek of nut brown marocain with a brown velour hat, and earried a small, autumn tinted posy. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, the bride changed into a travelling ensemble 'of prune shaded featlierweight angora, the flared tunie coat having a stitched velvet collar and buttonjng right down the
front. With this she wore a beautiful fox fur, a gift from her parents, a prune shaded hat and brown accessories. - Mr and Mrs John Bernau will make their future home in Wellington.
