■ I m II I M Proposed Meeting on Cprpnation Day FARMERS' UNION ATTITUDE "The Government has changed the King without the permission of the people, an£ I shall certainly stay away from the '-Coronation celebrations as a mark of disapproval," declared Mr W. Puddle at the monthly meeting of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand Tamera' XJnion on Saturday afternoon, When the holddng.of the National Erecutive meeting in Wellington on Coronation Day was being discussed. Before a change was made in the King, continued Mr Puddle, a referendum should have been taken of ail British subjects. He considered .it an insult to the people for a democrabic Labour Government to do euch a thing. Members expressed disapproval of the bad example set by the national executive in planning to meet in Wellington on Coronatidh. Day, thereby flouting the universal request made by the Government to make the day a holiday. The following resolution was finally carried, Mr Puddle dissenting: This branch regrets that ' the National Executive meeting ie beiug held on the day of the Coronation. This resolution is to be teldgraphed to headquarters in Wellington, with an intimation that the branch would be pleased if the executive could see its way clear to alter the date.
