SCHOOL CEREMONIES ARRANGED
Cake And Mementoes Fof ' Children HASTINGS PR0GRAMME In accordance with tlie expressed desire of the Mayor, Mr G. A. Maddison, and the membere oi the Hastings Borough Council, the various primary schools in Hastings will be conducting special celebrations and children 's treats and parties at the schools tomorrow. Each school has been eupplied with a fine big Coronation cake by the council, and these cakes will be distributed to all pupils in the schools. In addition, there will be a small Coronation buttoa presented by the council with cach piece of cake, an.d for the most part the school committees have arranged to give the children some other form of memento pf the occasion. Special efforts have been mad© "by all the 'teaching staffa in the arrangement of appropriate ceremonies, during which opportunity will be taken to addresa the children and to dmpress upon them the signilicance of the occasion. An outline of the programme to be adopted at efech of the echools in the borough is as follows:— - Parkvale School.— Ceremony comtnences at'8.30 o'clock. Singing by the pupils. Address by Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P. Presentation of souvenirs and cake to children. Planting of two oak treee. Convent School. — Commencing from 12.30 o'clock there will be a children 's party in which games, presentation of cake and souvenirs, and afternoon-tea will be the main features.' An address will be given by Father A. McDonald. Mahora School.—- Royal Court Levee commences at 1.30 o'clock. Maori welcome. Speeches by boys and girls representing nine units of the British Empire. Ceremonial cutting of the cake. Presentation of souvenir medellion and chocolate block. Hastings Centrah — Commencing at 1.30 o'clock, inf ants ' symbolie play. Older pupils* tableaux and concert. Distribution of cake, button, flag and bag of fruit and sweets. On Wednesday morning, prior to taking part in the maseed service at Nelson Park, the children will be addressed by Mr W. S. Bennett, chairman of the committee, and two 'frees will be planted. Hastings West.— Children assemble at 1.45 o'clock. Salute the flag. Planting of two trees. Address by Mr Friday Tomoana. Formal presentation of school banner by Mr L. J. Mackersey, chairman of the committee. Children 's party and presentation of cake and mementoes. $
