Mavy's Guns Too Heavy Soccer enthusiasts were treated to some excellent play on Nelson J?ark, Napier, on Saturday, when a team from H.M.S. Leith met and soundly defeated j. combined Napier team. The naval men were on the attack right from the start, and launched several broadsides whieh kept the combined team very busy keeping out of trouble. Passing rusheq iiiterspersed with long kicking mfvised variefcy into the play, and it was sqon evident that the navy carried too many guns for the longshoremen. j j Vietor Marsh, who played an outi standing game for the Navy, potted a splendjd goal from a corner. The game ended ih favour of H.M.S. Leith hy 6 goals to 3. The scorers were: Green (2), Marsh, Armstrong, Driver and Stone for H.M.S. Leith and Clark (2> and Rigby for the Combined team. Mr R. Wood was referee. In the cpmpetitjon game United v, Watersiders, the former team improved upon its reoent showings and won by three goals to one, thougb the game was mnoh more even than the scorq indicates. Both teams play a fast. open game, but the United were SQun, der in defence and this contributed to their win. Hawthorne, Leicester and J, Yarmin scored for United and Galbraith for Watersiders.
