CORONATION PAY
Our Own Corresnondent.
Matters Finalised at Wairoa
From
WAIROA, Last NightInterest in the celebration of the Coronation is growing and the shops in town, especially the drapery establishments are becoming a blaze of colour, royal shades predominating. The Mayor, who is at present in Auckland, has asked that the business people close all. day on Wednesday, and no doubt this will be done, though some confusion exists, there being no- local organisation to deal with such matters. The Post Ot3ice, among the public buildings, is making the best show so far, but by Saturday night many others will have put the finishing touches to the work. The procession is expected to be quite a big affair, as there will be about 800 children in the ranks. The parade is to start at North Clyde and procced to Coronation Square, ,and after the hakas, the speakers are to be the Mayor, Mr H. L. Harker, a representative of the Labour Party, and Mr J. J. Millar, secretary of the Returned Soldiers' Association, the ministers for the several churches, and the Rev. Hemi Huata, for the Maori people. The children, headed by the band and carrying their flags, are to march to the district school. where they are to be the guests of the comr.mittee at a luncheon. There are to be football matebes at Lambtou Square, a fireworks (lisplay, and a huge bonfire. The norses had been asked to parade in uniform, but it is regretted that they are too busy to attend.
