LONDUN, Alay U Despite negotiations lasting throughout tlie day and a conciliatory oii'ej from the Transport Board there is every prospect of .the bua strike continuing throughout next week, * accord'ing to t member of the Central Bus Cominittee, with which the decision rests. Moreover, if a settlement is not reached at the beginning of the week it is understood there is a serious possibiiity • of the stoupage extending to the trams, trolley-buses and tubes. * • • Transport Board ofiicials announced their readiness to discuss the Court of Inquiry/s report regarding the speeding up of services, over-frequeat alteration of sehedules, irregularity, of mealLimes, inadequacy of standing times and terminal facilities and to examine with the union duty sehedules xegarded unduly onerous. They added that,' if no agreement could be reached on those matters the board was willing that it should be" referred to the Court of Iuquiry or any other arbitrative body. The board was also prepared to negotiate on other matters apart from fhe ieduction of the working day and to establish with the union a properly qualified body to investigate the conditions regarding health. After discussions on this basis the meeting broke up, a bus committeeman stating that, although the board sug* gested a few modifications, they were insufficient to induce the calling offi of the strike. The busmen's delegates discussed the situation for three hours and adjourned. Mr. Bevin stated the delegates had decided to consult the members on Hunday and Monday regarding whether they would authorise negotiations for a new agreement based on the Transport Board 's offer or continue the strike for a 7$-h.our day. The Transport Board intimated that th'ey had given a final answer. The delegates will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday toreceive the reports of branches.
